DSH Management Solutions - 5/30/2006 – DMS's Proprietary Software Quantifies Medicare Disproportionate Share Payments to Hospitals

Montgomery McCracken to Represent National Hospital Management Company

GREAT FALLS, Va., May 30 /PRNewswire/ -- DSH Management Solutions, LLC ("DMS") announced today an agreement with a major U.S. hospital management company operating acute care hospitals, behavioral health facilities and ambulatory centers nationwide, to use DMS's proprietary software to review hospital and eligibility data relating to Medicare SSI disproportionate share payment ratios for specified hospitals in Nevada and Texas. The identification of additional Medicare SSI inpatient days through this process could result in substantial additional revenue for the hospitals.

DMS's ( http://www.dshmgmtsys.com ) MDSS© software suite is a remote-hosted, HIPAA-compliant, 128-bit SSL secure system available as a stand-alone product that can be leased and operated by clients, serve as the basis for partial or complete outsourcing of client-defined DSH revenue cycle management, or used by DMS in a consulting engagement. The system will cross reference current and historical hospital admission data, Title XIX, XVIII and XVI eligibility/entitlement/claims data; statewide public discharge databases, and federal/state-mandated benefit coverage rules-based tables.

The hospital management company has separately engaged the Philadelphia-based law firm, Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads, LLP (http://www.mmwr.com) to provide specific state and federal regulatory and other legal services relative to this project. Richard J. King, partner in the firm's health, education, and non-profit group, will be coordinating the firm's efforts relative to this engagement. King's practice concentrates in three principal areas: health law transactions including negotiating and drafting of merger, affiliation, acquisition, and operating agreements; health law reimbursement, including Medicare, Medicaid and the negotiating and drafting of managed care contracts; and federal and state regulatory compliance, including HIPAA, fraud and abuse, Stark, FDA and human subjects research. He has successfully appealed Medicaid and Medicare disputes, winning substantial additional reimbursement for hospital and nursing home clients and has successfully defended insurance, health care, commercial and franchise law matters.
